NATURE'S SOFT SNOW

Apple tree in my backyard
After a storm, my yard finds its inner peace. Branches hold the snow with grace and dignity, stacked high due to its very dry formula.
An immediate moment of calm and quiet solitude brings me to the yard.
To listen, touch and breathe.....

WINTER WONDERLAND

BLOSSOM LIGHTS
     - DENVER BOTANICAL GARDENS 2011

We decided at the last minute to walk the Blossom of Lights at Denver Botanical Gardens on Winter Solstice Night this December 21st, 2011.  It was made even more magical as we walked through the Gardens during the Christmas snow storm. No wind, just many beautiful magical snow flakes falling........................

COLOR IMPACT

Some Saturday in May

Here you can see what color will do to make your yard friendly. I found these chairs at McGuckin’s - Boulder Spring Yard Sale for cheap. I then selected the paint colors and took to sanding and painting the chairs. They sure do add life to the yard. We also opened up the Plum tree branches this year. The tree has found its graceful arms again!

CAROLA'S GREEN THUMB

Carola working at her Garden Shop in Heidelberg, Germany

On my visit to Germany in January 2011, I met Carola’s mother, Karla Graef, my mother’s cousin, in Tuebingen. We got to talking about the garden and she explained to me that Carola was also in love with her garden in Heidelberg. In fact she had just purchased an additional piece of land for a wild garden in the country. In Germany you call these private garden plots “Schraebergaerten”. I also learned that Carola actually works at a Gaertnerei Hoffmann. And as our communication began to grow I also found out that she is expanding her knowledge of the garden to helping a garden contractor select the right plants for the right site. See, gardeners live all over the globe. I hope to visit Carola’s garden someday in the summer.
